CLUB MEETINGS

 

Join us every Thursday for political discussions on local, state, national and international issues and affairs.  All of our meetings are open to everyone.  Our meetings are held at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 400 Benfield Road, Severna Park, Maryland 21146.   

 

On the third Thursday of each month, its “Pizza n’ Politics” at 7:00 p.m. in the evenings.  On all other Thursdays, its bagels and donuts at 7:30 a.m. in the morning.  Admission fee is only $4 in the morning, and just $5 in the evening, including food and refreshments.   

 

If Anne Arundel County Public Schools close or open late due to inclement weather, assume that the meeting is cancelled.  Our typical meetings last exactly one hour.  We begin with about twenty minutes of open discussion on any topics that members wish to bring up followed by a guest speaker for the next 40 minutes.

June 23—7:30 to 8:30 AM:  Mr. Warren Deschenaux, the Director of Office of Policy Analysis for the Legislative Services Department, is the guest speaker. The public is welcome.  There is a $4.00 fee.    


June 16—7:15 to 9:00 PM--Pizza & Politics Night-- Dr. Ron Elfenbein will discuss his qualifications and goals as a Republican candidate for the House of Delegates in District 30.  The public is welcome. There is a $5.00 fee.   


June 9—7:30 to 8:30 AM:  Bryan Simonaire will talk about is qualifications and goals as a Republican Senatorial candidate for District 31.  The public is welcome.  There is a $4.00 fee.

April 7, 2005 (7:30am):   Joseph Arminio,  Editor of THE CITIZENS MONITOR, a conservative newspaper published in Severna Park.  Joe will speak on the success of publishing a conservative paper in Maryland.


Mar 31, 2005 (7:30 to 8:30 am.):  Delegate Herb McMillan (R-District 30) will provide an update on key General Assemble issues and concerns.


Mar 24,2005 (7:30 to 8:30 a.m.):  County Council member Barbara Samorajczyk (District 6) will discuss salient County Council issues, including financial particulars of the Compass Point Golf Course.


Mar 17, 2005 (7 to 9 p.m.): U.S. Naval Academy Professor Karen Thierfelder is the guest speaker at the Elephant Club’s “Pizza & Politics Night.”  She’ll discuss the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the implications for U.S. Agriculture and Migration.
